Back to Arkansas

Just a quick note to let y'all know we arrived just fine in Arkansas earlier this week. After a nice visit with the Pruden family, we took two days (as usual) to drive back to Arkansas. We stopped at a state natural area in southern Illinois on the way down to look at some large trees, and then got into Monticello the next day. Although we greatly enjoy these trips, all travelers (especially Mooch the cat) were happy to be back in their own beds.

Now all we have to do is get back into the swing of things!

We were so glad you came and stayed with us for awhile. Jon was absolutely charmed by little Beth, who manages to be angelic and feisty all at the same time. And Kenny is such a hard-working (hard-playing) little ball of determination. I see a little Don Junior there :).

Late fall activities

Well, I better get this blog post out before too long--hard to believe it is already December and the holiday season is upon us!  The picture above is from a visit earlier this fall by Beth--and her introduction to our new female tabby kitten "Charlie".  Charlie got her name from the neighbor boy who thought she was a he when this small stray kitten showed up in our neighborhood.  We believe someone dumped her when she was old enough to be on her own--she was definitely very friendly from the very beginning!  The neighbors "found" her first, but as they have cat allergies, were not going to take her in...Since our Bella had died earlier this year, we determined that we were going to wait until early 2024 to find a replacement cat...but as they say, you don't find cats, they find you...  So now we have Charlie!
