This was part of the end-of-year program that Kenny and his fellow kindergartners put on for the school and parents. As you can see, Kenny (and most of his classmates) did just fine. This made me remember of our "performances" as kids, and how much I didn't like them... I was far more shy then than I am now... This last weekend I volunteered on an archeology dig near Little Rock (again), and then on Sunday we went to Little Rock for " Riverfest " which is a large fair/concert venue. It was hot, but the kids got to play in a water park for a while, and in the evening we "saw" the southern rock group .38 Special in concert (those of you who remember the 80s music scene will remember they were quite popular for a time). This weekend finished much better than we thought it would. On Thursday, both Hope and I were sitting in the doctor's office, getting our various infections (my throat, her sinus) addressed...I felt pretty miserable much of Wednesday and Thursday, and Hope had been suffering from early in the week. We figured that our grand plans would fall through for the weekend due to these illnesses, and were happily disappointed! Our first taste of good news came on Friday, when our rebate check (for the full amount) showed up. Once it arrived, we planned on doing our "civic" duty by spending it to help revitalize the economy. So, the next morning, we drove up to Little Rock. We just finished a long weekend visit with Hope's parents Rich (aka Bumpa ) and Ann (aka Nahma ) Pruden . They left Michigan on a Wednesday afternoon, and arrived at our house by mid-day Thursday--early enough to go and surprise Kenny by picking him up after school (the kids weren't expecting their grandparents until Friday). This visit led to several days packed with activities, including a T-ball game Thursday night (to make up for the one that was rained out earlier).
