Daddy - Daughter Dance 2016


 It's been a quiet, if still eventful January...Sorry for dereliction in my blogging duties, but I've been occupied with things that usually find me without a good camera...  Above, Beth proudly received a certificate for getting all A's.  Below, Stephen's Cub Scout pack got a tour of a local museum, including a chance to see a real live alligator up close:


We also traveled to Ruston, Louisiana, about 2 hours away, to attend the birthday party of our godson, John Mark Adams, pictured below with his mother and Stephen:


On the way back, just before dusk, we stopped at a small monument to a former Arkansas politician right on the Louisiana-Arkansas border:


We've had some really nice weather for the last couple weekends.  This included the particular Saturday afternoon we went out to our hunting lease and spent a very pleasant afternoon hiking up one of the small stream channels, looking for fossils, petrified wood, and agates--and finding quite a bit!  Below, Beth and Stephen (in knee boots, of course) looking for treasures:


The big event this weekend (other than our annual Super Bowl party, from which I am taking a brief break), was the Daddy-Daughter Dance.  This gets me into a suit and tie, and this year had a masquerade them (hence the masks, pictured below):


As with most pre-teen girls, Beth was all about the dancing...Her Aunt Lulu was proud to see she's inherited her spunky dancin' fool nature:


Below is a picture of our cat, Draco, well...just because!


Draco is a cute but annoying furball that lives to torment Bella, our other cat, and to keep Beth company.  He will soon be an unhappy cat, as we will put the two cats into a room to keep them from getting out of the house or annoying our soon to be arriving guests.  Speaking of which, if y'all happen to be in the area of Monticello today (Super Bowl Sunday), please feel free to stop on in and enjoy some good food and company--and maybe even watch the game (or at least a few commercials)!

Late fall activities

Well, I better get this blog post out before too long--hard to believe it is already December and the holiday season is upon us!  The picture above is from a visit earlier this fall by Beth--and her introduction to our new female tabby kitten "Charlie".  Charlie got her name from the neighbor boy who thought she was a he when this small stray kitten showed up in our neighborhood.  We believe someone dumped her when she was old enough to be on her own--she was definitely very friendly from the very beginning!  The neighbors "found" her first, but as they have cat allergies, were not going to take her in...Since our Bella had died earlier this year, we determined that we were going to wait until early 2024 to find a replacement cat...but as they say, you don't find cats, they find you...  So now we have Charlie!
