A better day for T-ball

Unlike our last attempt to get Kenny to a T-ball game, last night was a beautiful night for a game. The field was still wet from the heavy soaking that had fallen during the previous week, but it was not a problem for the young T-ball team (they have enough issues just trying to figure the game out). First things first, though--picture day! Here's Kenny hamming it up for me--he had just posed for a picture for the professional photographer...

Something I'm still getting used to is how many people make a living selling pictures to family members--just about any activity comes with formal poses, and they've taken his picture at least 3 times at school. Each time comes with a sales pitch to buy more. And then there's the pressure to buy an add in the local paper to publish the picture of your lil' slugger or ballerina or whatever. We're resisting as much as we can... Here's Kenny posing with his team:

and Kenny playing second base:

Sorry about the Yankee's logo, everyone--the coach picks the club, and we can't control what team he ends up on. Kenny's still got a long way to go in picking up the skills of the game and paying attention to what's happening on the field. T-ball is definitely a learning experience for these kids--many of them play in the dirt, chase bugs, talk to their friends, etc., as balls are hit past them... Kenny does better than many of them, given he already played one season, and is older than many of them. Stephen seemed to enjoy this outing:

but Beth was rather bored, and wanted to chase other kids around...

Kenny's team didn't win, but I think they had fun. We are pleased to note that we've come one further step in our remodeling process--we've finally got our master bedroom painted (mostly) and have moved back to this room. Hope picked the color, and it nicely matches the beautiful blanket mom made for us a year or two ago:

We still need to replace the carpet in the bedrooms and living room, and have a number of other projects to run, but this was the big one for this year. We were scrambling to get this done and move out of our guest room, as Hope's parents are due in town tomorrow for a long weekend visit.
