Kenny's in kindergarten!!

The cool kid in the kooky floppy hat and shades is, of course, our son Kenny (the short one on the left, not the hairy one on the right). This picture is of Kenny and his "Bumpa" just before we went up to pick up baby Stephen from the hospital. It hardly seems possible, but it was only a few years ago that we were picking Kenny up from the same hospital. Today, Kenny proudly marched off to his next big adventure--kindergarten.

This was the scene as we were preparing to get in the minivan this morning to drive him to his first day of school. Beth may look happy in this picture, but she's been rather crabby with the prospects of not having her big brother around. And his momma, well, let's just say Hope was emotional about watching her firstborn trot into the school. We didn't take any still pictures of this departure, just some video, but contrary to some of mom's worst fears, I'm sure he is having the time of his life. Let's just hope his enthusiasm for learning remains throughout his life.

Hope's parents left last Friday to return to Michigan--they arrived Saturday morning to temperatures in the low 40s and rain--a far cry from the 100+ temperatures and dry weather we had during their visit. Fortunately for us, this week it is supposed to cool down to only the mid 90s...

So Kenny's a big school boy now! Michael and Emma really enjoyed reading about this and seeing pictures of the kids. Emma is drawing a picture of Stephen right now.

Our school orientation day is September 4th, with classes starting after that.

I just posted some pictures and commentary about our trip Milwaukee and first Brewer game. Check it out! It has been amazingly cold and rainy here, in contrast to your weather down south. I know you guys have air conditioning so should be doing fine, but I understand that some people without air, who live in rough neighborhoods where they are afraid to open their windows, must truly be suffering.

We turned our heat on today and have been wearing coats. You'd think we live a thousand miles apart!
