Happy Easter!

Thanks for sharing, Stephen! Before I knew it, Easter has come and gone... Yet another year rocketing by... But first, a few pre-Easter comments... Ever wonder why your stereo quits working properly in your car? If you have young children, it's a good bet to think they may have played a role!

This picture is of the factory installed car stereo from our minivan. The pile of coins is what Hope shook out of it the other day when we finally replaced this stereo with an after-market one! It appears our youngest learned he could slip change that we kept in a compartment near the dash into the CD player and/or tape deck. I'm sure it made a most satisfying clinking sound as it entered. We were replacing this stereo anyhow (the new one no longer has an obvious slot to put coins in!), and we've actually had to shake change out of this stereo before, so we weren't surprised at all... Well, maybe the sheer quantity was a surprise!

This weekend, we traveled to Petit Jean Mountain so I could attend an archeology meeting. Prior to the meeting, we ventured into part of the state park that's on top of this mountain, and I took a few pictures at an overlook high above the Arkansas River. Beth was always willing to ham it up for the camera:

and Kenny led the exploration of the rocks and the ruins of an old abandoned resort at this overlook:

They used native stone hewn from this mountain to build this building, carefully choosing blocks that had interesting patterns:

Those "rings" aren't painted, but rather reflect natural differences in the mineral content of the rock. Even though the skies looked threatening that day, we didn't really get any rain where we were at, and the kids had fun playing outside. Right now, since it's probably already in the mid-80s and humid, we let the kids fill their swimming pool, and I can hear them splashing about. Today we went to Easter services--here are Stephen and Beth peeking into the church:

Kenny got a different view today in his role as an alter server:

Note we call them "alter servers" today instead of alterboys--most of the servers at our church are girls, including the three that served with Kenny today. Afterwards, the kids got to do a quick Easter egg hunt on the church grounds:

Not all has been joyful this weekend, as we were sent word that Bud Hurlburt passed away this weekend. Bud is the father of my brother-in-law Jon Hurlburt (husband of my sister Lisa) and passed away following a long illness. Our sympathies and prayers go out to the Hurlburt family and friends in this time of grief.
